Do you have the energy to keep our operations running like a well-oiled machine? We’re looking for someone to power up our maintenance team and keep things running smoothly! As Head of Maintenance & Energy, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating our technical department. At the same time, you will actively participate in the work yourself, spending about 80% of your time in our factory or workshop.
Our technical department consists of a team of four technicians who handle all technical tasks on our site: from energy generation and production to waste streams such as water treatment and dust processing. They also resolve second-line malfunctions (both electrical and mechanical) and perform maintenance in our Malthouse, Roastery, Packaging, and Water Treatment facilities.
The Swaen is a Dutch family business that has been around for more than a hundred years. We make quality malts, the main ingredient of beer and whiskey. It is also used in the food industry, but that sounds a little less exciting. We have customers all over the world, mainly craft brewers.
What will you do in this position?
Operational:
- Independently perform maintenance and repair work in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Assess and analyse malfunctions and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Strategic:
- Develop and manage maintenance plans and budgets.
- Initiate and oversee technical improvement projects.
- Evaluate maintenance strategies and implement innovations.
Administrative:
- Plan and coordinate the daily and weekly activities of the technical department.
- Manage maintenance contracts and request quotes from external parties.
- Report to the CEO on the maintenance status and ongoing projects.

Job requirements for Head of Maintenance & Energy
- You have a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking.
- You have experience as a (lead) technician.
- You have the ambition to grow along with our organisation.
- You initiate improvement projects and take corrective and preventive measures.
- You hold a VCA certificate and/or a forklift/aerial work platform certification.
