Best Bitter

Recipe – Best Bitter

Since this Best Bitter recipe relies on various caramel malts, it delivers a balanced malt backbone with a crisp finish. Moreover, it showcases how caramel malts enhance both flavour and mouthfeel. British Bitters evolved from English Pale Ales in the late 1800s.

NEIPA

Recipe – NEIPA

New England IPA (NEIPA) is an American-style IPA celebrated for its intense fruit flavours and aromas, soft body, and smooth mouthfeel. This style is often opaque, showcasing substantial haze. Unlike traditional IPA, a NEIPA recipe possesses less perceived bitterness.

Caramel malts

Caramel malts have come a long way, but their roots go back to traditional kilning techniques. Brewers once covered kilns with tarpaulins to trap moisture while heating green malt to 60–75°C. After two hours, the starch inside fully converted to sugars.

Storage and shelf life

To maintain peak quality and flavour, proper storage is essential. Therefore, we recommend keeping our malt in a cool, dry, and pest-free environment with temperatures below 20°C (68°F). High humidity can negatively affect freshness, so it is important to store malt in a controlled setting. Depending on the type of malt, it is best used within 6 to 18 months from the manufacturing date. However, each bag includes a Best Before date to ensure optimal usage.

All our malts conform to EU and international regulations. Furthermore, we transport them exclusively via GMP-certified carriers to guarantee the highest standards in safety and hygiene. Please keep in mind that improperly stored malts may lose freshness and flavour more quickly.
